For Shopify stores
Shopify A/B testing that never touches your theme
Looplift is an AI A/B testing and CRO tool for Shopify stores. It audits your storefront, decides what is worth testing, builds the variant, and runs it — from a snippet you paste once. Your theme files are byte-identical before and after, and no experiment goes live until you approve it.
We read 385 reviews across the Shopify App Store’s CRO & A/B testing category on 31 July 2026. Of the 73 rated three stars or below, 7% describe code left behind after an uninstall and 5% describe an app breaking the store or the theme. That is the fear this product is built around — not page speed, which accounted for a single review out of the 73.
What Looplift can and cannot test on a Shopify store
Stated here rather than discovered after you install. The left column is the whole product; the right column is not a roadmap.
In scope
- Headlines, product copy and value propositions
- Calls to action — wording, placement, prominence
- Trust badges, guarantees and social proof
- The order of sections on a page, and what sits above the fold
- Product and collection page presentation
- Navigation labels, forms and content blocks
Out of scope, deliberately
- Prices, discount rules and promotions
- Shipping rates and thresholds
- Stock, fulfilment and inventory logic
- Payment infrastructure and restricted checkout regions
- Whole-theme or template swaps
- Server-side personalization
How it works on a Shopify store
- 1
Install one snippet
You paste a single script into your theme's layout, the same way you would add an analytics tag. Nothing is written into your theme by us, then or ever — which means removing that line removes all of Looplift.
- 2
Run the audit
Looplift reads your live storefront — its pages, its performance data and, if you connect it, your GA4 — and produces three ranked proposals. Each one names a specific problem, the hypothesis behind it, and the change it wants to test.
- 3
Approve what you want to run
The variant arrives already built against your real page content. You read it, edit it if you like, and approve it. Your approval is pinned to the exact version you read: edit it afterwards and it needs approving again.
- 4
Let the result be called honestly
Looplift reports a confidence interval rather than a live scoreboard you can stop whenever it looks good, and its verdict accounts for the fact that you are watching. A test that has not earned a call is told so.
- 5
Keep the lesson
A concluded experiment is interpreted and recorded: what moved, what did not, and what that suggests next. Those learnings rank the proposals in your next audit.
Where we are today: Looplift is in private beta and is not yet listed on the Shopify App Store, so the one-click install does not exist yet — connecting a store means pasting one snippet. We would rather you read that here than find it out during onboarding.
Why it cannot break your store
No theme writes, by construction
Looplift has no code that writes to a Shopify theme, and never asks for the permission that would allow it. This is why an uninstall cannot leave anything behind: there is nothing in your theme to leave.
No AI-written JavaScript in your shoppers' browsers
Every change is an allow-listed declarative operation — change this text, hide that element, insert this block — versioned, scoped and reviewable. A model proposes; it never gets to run code on your store.
Everything fails open
An operation whose target is not on the page is skipped rather than throwing. If our API is unreachable, the visitor gets your original store. The worst case is no experiment, never a broken page.
Two kill switches and an automatic one
You can stop every Looplift change on a site yourself, from your dashboard, without contacting us. We can stop the entire platform. And every running experiment is checked against its guardrail metrics every ten minutes and stopped automatically if it breaches them.
One honest cost, since the rest of this section is a list of guarantees: when the snippet is installed synchronously in your <head>, it hides the page while it applies a variant so shoppers never see the original flash first. That hide is capped at 1.5 seconds, after which the page reveals itself whatever happens. On a slow connection that is a real delay, and it applies to every page view on a site with a running experiment.
How Looplift compares to the apps you are probably also considering
Each of these pages says where the other app is the better buy, because most of the time one of them is. Facts are from the App Store listings as of 31 July 2026.
- Looplift vs. Shoplift
The theme and template testing leader. Read this one if you want to test whole themes — we do not.
- Looplift vs. Intelligems
The widest surface: prices, shipping, checkout, and a recommendation layer of its own.
- Looplift vs. Visually
A no-code visual editor plus personalization, at a much lower entry price.
- Looplift vs. ABConvert
Built around price, shipping and theme testing, metered by test orders.
Questions merchants ask first
- Does Looplift edit my Shopify theme?
- No. There is no code path in Looplift that writes to a Shopify theme, and we never request the permission that would let us. Variants are applied in the browser from a snippet you install once, so your theme files are byte-identical before and after.
- Is Looplift on the Shopify App Store?
- Not yet. Looplift is in private beta and the one-click Shopify install is being built. Today you connect a store by pasting one snippet into your theme's layout — the same way you would add an analytics tag — and you can remove it the same way.
- Can I A/B test prices with Looplift?
- No, and we do not plan to. Prices, discount rules, shipping, stock and checkout are server-side commerce logic, and a testing tool that changes them can cost you real money when it gets something wrong. Looplift tests what your storefront says and shows: copy, calls to action, badges, social proof, layout and ordering. If price testing is what you need, apps like Intelligems and ABConvert are built for it.
- Can I test a whole theme against another one?
- No. Whole-theme and template testing needs an app that integrates with your theme, which is exactly what Looplift refuses to do. We test changes inside the pages your current theme already renders. Shoplift is the app to look at if theme-level testing is the requirement.
- What stops a broken test from damaging my store?
- Four things, all in code rather than in policy. Every change is an allow-listed declarative operation, never generated JavaScript. Any operation that does not match the page is skipped instead of throwing. If our API is unreachable the visitor gets your original page. And a running experiment is checked against its guardrail metrics every ten minutes and stopped automatically if it breaches them — plus you have a kill switch for the whole site.
- Do I need a developer to run experiments?
- For the storefront changes Looplift proposes, no — you paste the snippet once and approve variants from the dashboard. Some changes are genuinely developer work: anything touching server-side logic, pricing, stock or restricted checkout regions. Looplift labels those as needing a developer when it proposes them, rather than after you have approved one.
